In honor of Elgin’s upcoming sesquicentennial celebration, the Clever Tiger, 114 Depot St., hosted an art exhibition last Saturday to showcase an eclectic mix of Elgin-themed art. Local artists demonstrated techniques such as watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, and photo collages. Spectators repeatedly circulated throughout the room, taking in the diverse array of stellar artwork. Darcie Westerlund won first place for her painting “Elgin Train Station” after attendees voted on their favorite piece. Runners-up were Bhaswati Sinha, Megan Stuart, and Susan Sullivan. Selected pieces will be on display throughout the month of August as Elgin continues to celebrate its 150th birthday.
