The Elgin baseball team defeated East View 5-4 in eight innings last Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game.
The game was tied at 4-4 with Elgin batting in the top of the eighth when a sacrifice bunt by Jacob Neidig scored one run for the Wildcats.
Brandon Girod sealed the victory in the bottom of the inning, retiring three of the four batters he faced.
Girod tossed three hitless innings of relief for Elgin starter Cade Watson, who allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings. Watson also struck out five and walked four.
