JOSHUA — The Elgin High School boys varsity powerlifting team was in action Saturday, March 9 at the Boys Region 2 Division 1 meet held at Joshua High School. The Wildcats had four lifters qualify for the upcoming state meet in their respective weight classes after competing in the squat, bench press and deadlift.Melanio Perez placed second in the 198-pound class with 1,605 total pounds lifted and took home plaques at the regional meet for Most Outstanding Squatter and Most Outstanding Lifter in the heavy platform.Miguel Nunez was also a runner-up in the 181-pound class with 1,535 total pounds lifted,
