The Elgin High School girls varsity soccer team began 5A-District 23 play this past week with matches at Georgetown East View High School and at home versus Pflugerville Connally High School.Following a close 1-0 loss to East View on the road Jan. 23 in the district opener, the Elgin returned girls home last Friday evening and won 3-2 over Connally on Teacher Appreciation Night.The Lady Wildcats got out to a 2-1 lead at halftime and were able to hold on down the stretch as Elgin picked up its first district victory of the season.
