Shirley Darlene Jarmon

Shirley Darlene Jarmon, 67, of Elgin, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, September 24th, 2021.  Shirley was born in Elgin, the second of four children, to Gerald Jarmon and Leona Neidig Jarmon, on October 11, 1953.  She grew up in Elgin and graduated with the Class of ’72.  After graduation, she attended Blinn College in Brenham, where she played clarinet in the Marching Band.  She married and was the proud mother of two children, Jarrod and Julianne.  After college, she worked for the Elgin Ford Dealership for several years and then began a 25-year career with the Department of Public Safety’s Human Resources.  She was a life-long member of the Elgin First Christian Church.  She was active in her children’s lives, serving as Den Mother for Jarrod’s Boy Scout Troop and Troop Leader for Julianne’s Girl Scouts.  Her most enjoyable moments were spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and her uncle, Leon Neidig.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her two children, Jarrod Jarmon and Julianne and husband Ben Burkhalter; her four grandchildren, McKenna Jarmon, Cutter Burkhalter, Jameson Jarmon, and Ranger Burkhalter; her three siblings, Jerry Jarmon and wife Deb, Nancy and husband Scooter Phillips, and Rodney Jarmon and wife Karol; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Family and Friends will gather for visitation at Elgin Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 29th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Thursday, September 30th at 11:00 AM with Brother Jim Platt presiding.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Arrangements and care are entrusted to Elgin Funeral Home.
