Student volunteers set an example

Elgin Independent School District students continue to step up and help the city fill the volunteer positions needed for local events.Community Development Director Amy Miller took to the podium during this month’s School Board meeting to commend the young workers for all that they have done.“If it were not for the Elgin Independent School District and these amazing student volunteers, the Hogeye Festival truly would not happen,” said Miller.Hogeye brought in about 20,000 visitors, and over 100 dedicated individuals came through to make sure the celebration ran smoothly.The kids helped set up the fairgrounds and manned the inflatable games and ...
