The Elgin ISD school board adopted the budget and tax rate for the new school year during their August meeting last Monday. Appropriations for the 2019-2020 school year total $57,470,417. A little over $46 million of the budget will be used for the operating fund, which pays for faculty and staff compensation, transportation and more. General fund appropriations increased by about ten percent in this new budget as a result of new staff and raises, funded by increased revenue from the state.
