After last month’s tragic shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers, Elgin ISD officials remind parents of the safety measures in place at the local school district.“The Elgin Independent School District has always maintained the safety of students and staff as the highest priority,” said Matthew West, Elgin ISD’s director of safety and risk management.In 2021, Elgin ISD began a program to employ armed security guards that patrol the district and respond to emergencies.
