WesternDaysUnder the sun and amidst the entertainment of Elgin’s 55th annual homecoming celebration, long-time attendees shared with the Courier how the event has evolved over the years.Through Western Days’ longstanding traditions like the parade down Main Street and new additions like this year’s Family Foam Hoe Down, Elginites recognized that one aspect has both persisted and grown – a sense of community.“Everyone comes together,” said Angela Nunn, who’s been attending since she was a child over 40 years ago. “It didn’t used to be like that 40 years ago, it’s not separated any more. One big unity, small town family.”
