More aid for local foster children

BASTROP — Court Appointed Special Advocates of Bastrop, Fayette and Lee Counties continue to expand their network of helping hands. Local volunteers Kanchana Iyer, Rebecca Diaz and Tammy Harris are the most recent appointees set to help with abuse and neglect foster care cases assigned by courts in the area.  There were 187 children in the child welfare system in local communities in 2022, according to CASA.   “Every one of these children, whatever their current circumstances, deserves every possible chance to succeed in life,” said CASA Executive Director Kristi Bauer.  Foster children face several obstacles and risks when their families are in crisis and ...
