The fifth annual Bastrop & Fayette Counties Alzheimer’s Texas Walk will be held at Towers Nursing Home in Smithville on September 21. This event raises funds for Alzheimer’s support and education and is instrumental in making Texas a leader in Alzheimer’s research. The Thiessen Family will serve as the Honorary Family of this event. This family has shown their commitment to helping others through their involvement and caring nature. These families are not alone. Over five million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease, and here in Texas alone, over 1.3 million people care for a loved one with some type of dementia.
