Elgin elected officials’ use of taxpayer money

Thanks to Elgin’s councilmembers Bega, Callahan, Gibson, and Ibis for voting against the City hiring a contractor that is a relative of a City of Elgin elected official. The contract presented to council on February 1 was a test of the ethical compass of Elgin’s leadership. Councilmembers Bega, Callahan, Gibson, and Ibis all passed the test with flying colors. This test was eye opening for residents to witness which council members actually respect the city charter and are true guardians of taxpayer funds.
