Elgin native Staff Sergeant Kaci Cummings returned to the area in July to play with the U.S. Army Field Band in Austin to commemorate the first birthday of the Army Futures Command location in Austin. Staff Sgt. Cummings has played French horn since she was instructed by David Cross in the Elgin Middle School band. Continuing to play French horn in band, Cummings attended Elgin High School for three years. During her Elgin upbringing, she was a member of 4-H, where she showed Simmental Heifers and chickens.
