TEMPLE – The Smithville High School varsity cross country program had itself a meet to remember on Thursday, Sept. 21 as the Lady Tigers and Tigers each competed at the Lake Belton Bronco Invitational held at Crossroads Park in Temple.
Read moreBASTROP – Following a thrilling five-set victory on Sept. 15 on the road at Pflugerville Connally High School, the Cedar Creek High School varsity volleyball team defended its home floor on Sept. 19 and cruised in three straight sets over Elgin High School. The Lady Eagles picked up another much-needed District 23-5A victory over the visiting Lady Wildcats at 25-8, 25-11 and held on 25-21 to seal the deal.

BASTROP – The grind to the postseason continued this past week for the Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team as the Lady Bears hosted Pflugerville Connally High School on Sept. 19 and traveled to Elgin High School on Sept. 22 for a pair of District 23-5A matches.

SAN ANTONIO – The Bastrop High School varsity football team had its hands full on Sept. 22 as the Bears traveled down to San Antonio to take on a high-powered Pieper High School squad. Unfortunately, the Bears were unable to keep up on the road as the Warriors’ dominant offense helped them cruise to a 63-22 victory over Bastrop.

On Friday night, the Elgin Wildcats picked up a huge 50-28 victory in their district opener over Pflugerville Connally. Elgin also crowned their Homecoming king and queen. Nathen Lewis was named king, and Nya Kirk Jones was named queen.
