The Bastrop County Commissioner’s Court has approved the reinstatement of a county-wide Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) sponsored by the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management.The National CERT Program trains volunteers to prepare for the types of disasters their community may face such as those experienced in Bastrop County, including the February winter storm, wildfires and floods. Through hands-on training and realistic exercises, CERT volunteers learn how to safely respond to man-made and natural hazards, help organize basic disaster response and promote preparedness within their communities.“We are really excited to bring this opportunity back to Bastrop County,” said Christine Files,
