The Elgin baseball team pulled away late for a 5-4 victory over Hutto last Tuesday in the District 18-5A opener for both teams.
The game was tied 4-4 with Elgin batting in the top of the seventh when Andruw Gonzales hit a fly ball to left field. The ball was mishandled by Hutto, and allowed Isaac Davila to score the winning run all the way from first.
Davila finished 1-for-2 from the plate with three runs scored, while Jace Grady, Jacob Harkins, Trevor Magnuson and David Perez added one hit apiece for the Wildcats.
