Industrial railroad not wanted in Bastrop County

Posted in:

The idea behind a high-speed bullet train connecting Houston and Austin is a promising idea, but falls short of being a realistic project. Texas Central Railroad estimates the timeline to build the railroad to take six years and $20 billion. The heftiest toll will not be just on the taxpayers, but the landowners fighting to keep their property out of the hands of the railroad. Democratic nominee Mike Siegel, running for the 10th district of Texas, is in favor of a similar train to go from Austin to Houston with no regard to the landowners. Congressman Michael McCaul is endorsed by the Texas Farm Bureau AGFUND and can speak on behalf of Texas farmers and say that an industrial railroad is not wanted by Bastrop County!
