Kathryn Ann Lang (Jacobsen) passed into the loving hands of our Lord on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022. She was born on New Year's Day, 1949, in Burt County, Nebraska. Kathy succumbed to a blessedly brief debilitation, too late diagnosed as liver cancer.

Kathy was married to Andy Jacobsen for 39 years, and was the loving stepmom to Payee Jacobsen, of Dallas. She was the youngest sibling, by 10 years, of five born to Richard and Elizabeth Skinner Lang, and shared a never-ending love with many nieces and nephews.

Kathy served the University of Texas at Austin's Drama Department for 27 years in multiple positions teaching costume history, supervising the department’s costume shop, and curating the second largest costume collection to Yale in the country, retiring in 2001. Subsequently, she taught as adjunct professor at Texas State University for five years, and ran the Austin Lyric Opera's costume department for their three operas per year for several years after retiring from UT.

Kathy was valedictorian of Craig, NE. High School, honors graduate of NE Wesleyan College, and got her Master of Arts at the University of Indiana in Bloomington.

She and husband Andy enjoyed visiting many national parks and just last fall visited every important stop on the Lewis and Clark Trail between Omaha and Ft. Clatsop near Astoria, Oregon – a 25-day trip.

As an undergrad, she was a regular every summer at the Brownville, Nebraska, summer theater, both as actress and support crew.

Kathy and Andy made Elgin their home for the past 17 years, and there will be a private backyard memorial service on a date TBD.

Her love of the Huskers never abated, except when they were playing her new love — the Texas Longhorns. Kathy and Andy were almost as regular at Omaha for the College World Series as were the Homs. Likewise, she proved not so popular sitting with her Husker season ticket holding brothers, rooting for the Homs in Lincoln, in the game in the snow which the Homs won with a last second field goal in 2008. She also rooted for the Orange and White in person every time the Husker Lady Volleyballers visited Old Gregory. Season tickets to the football Homs will now belong to someone else, but those winning memories will persist forever.
