John Allen Corbett

John Allen Corbett, a retired Lieutenant of Elgin Police and a resident of Cedar Creek, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2021, at the age of 64, at his home with his family by his side. John was born in Austin, Texas on August 28, 1956.  John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, leather work, traveling, woodwork, gardening, firearms, photography, making new friends, and valuing life-long friends. He was greatly spiritual and passionate about his church. He and his wife, Susan, were members of Austin First Church. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

John retired as the Lieutenant of the Elgin Police Department on January 31,2018. He also served as a Chief of Campus Police for Austin Community College, a Patrol Sergeant for City of Sunset Valley Police Department, a Lieutenant/Training Coordinator of Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, a Chief of Hutto Police Department, a Paramedic Supervisor of Williamson County Emergency Medical Services, a firefighter for the Bastrop Fire Department, and a dispatcher for the Bastrop Police Department, where he began his long and honorable career serving his community.

John was predeceased in death by his father, Thomas Oscar Corbett and his mother, Nevelyn Corbett.

John is survived by his loving wife, Susan Marie Corbett; his brother, Tom “Bubba” Corbett; his children, Sarah Elizabeth Corbett, Richard Dennis, Jr., and Leanette Dee Smith, Ryan Adam and Bethany Raegan Smith; his grandchildren, Liana Danielle and Jalen Manuel Corbett, Aaliyah and Zoe Reyna Reyes, Dalton Louis, Jaden Grant, Chance Drew, and McKenzie Faith Smith.

Serving with Grace and Dignity as Pallbearers are: Richard Smith, Ryan Smith, Travis Ward, Dalton Smith, Jaden Smith, and Chance Smith.  Honorary Pallbearers are: Jalen Corbett and Oscar Cassel.

Family and Friends will gather for visitation at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, June 11th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Funeral Services, Celebrating a Life Well Lived will be conducted at Austin First Church, Saturday, June 12th at 9:00 AM, with Pastor Kurt Green presiding.  Interment wil Honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  For those who are unable to attend, services at the church will be livestreamed at  www.elginfuneralhome.net/obituary/LtJohn-Corbett.  Donations and condolences may be offered to Susan Marie Corbett. Arrangements and care are entrusted to Elgin Funeral Home.
