James Taylor Hollan Sr.

James Taylor Hollan Sr., 87, aka Buddy, passed away on Sept. 8, 2022, peacefully at home.

James was born in Yoakum, TX, to Jim Berry Hollan and Ida Maurine Jowers. After he graduated high school, he joined the United States Army in 1951. He then went to work as a cross country truck driver till his retirement.

Buddy enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and baking all kinds of yummy desserts. His favorite pie was a buttermilk pie. He loved watching the grandkids and great-grandkidsparticipate in various activities. He was also an avid ham radio operator and self-proclaimed meteorologist. Buddy also enjoyed painting by numbers.

He married Barbara Jean Whisenant on March 27,1965. They spent their days together till her passing in 2015. They had four children together.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Lisa Parker (Jason), Sherri VanBuskirk (John), and MichealTeller; and great-grandchildren, Haley VanBuskirk (Hunter), Clayton VanBuskirk, Taylor VanBuskirk, Ashley VanBuskirk, AJ Moore and Luke Parker. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings; great-grandson, Garrett Parker, wife, Barbara Hollan; and his children, Carol, Anthony and JT.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Elgin New Life Church, PO Box 838, Elgin, TX 78621.
