Ernest M. Jimenez Jr.

Ernest M. Jimenez Jr., age 60, of Elgin, passed away at his home on Oct. 11, 2022.

Ernest was born on December 26, 1961, in Elgin to Ernest Jimenez Sr. and Noemi (Mejia) Jimenez. He was the oldest of three children and the only son.

Ernest graduated from Elgin High School. He spent his early years driving fast cars and motorcycles. He loved the adrenaline!

He enjoyed watching Bruce Lee movies. It encouraged him to succeed in martial arts.

He loved rock ‘n’ roll music and the Dallas Cowboys. Ernest’s hobbies included hunting, cooking, gaming and working outdoors, but fishing was his favorite pastime.

Our memories of Ernest are full of jokes and good times. He was a loving father, brother, uncleand friend. His smile, laugh and presence will be sincerely missed.

Ernest is preceded in death by his mother, Noemi Jimenez, who passed away on May 20, 2016, at the age of 79.

He is survived by his father, Ernest Sr.; his partner of 13 years, Lisa Poston, and her son, Travis Martinez; his children, Isaiah (Amy) Cruz, Jareth Ortiz, April Lynn Jimenez, and Ariel Jimenez;his eight grandchildren; his sisters, Rachel and Rebecca Jimenez; his nieces and nephews, John Michael Gonzales, Crystal Marie Gonzales, Vincent Machuca, Alina Basquez, Blake and Meghan Newman and their children; and many more aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation was held on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A graveside service was held on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 2p.m. at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
