Donna Beth Keeling, age 78, of Elgin, went to be with our Lord on Oct. 14, 2022. Donna was born on Oct. 22, 1943, in Marlin to Grady Allen and Bessie Louise (Cooley) Scott. She graduated from Galena Park High School, where she was a member of the drill team.

On April 14, 1965, Donna married the love of her life, Michale E. Keeling. She worked to help him get through Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine. Though she never attended A&M herself, she was an Aggie at heart. The couple had four children, and Donna was a devoted mom, active in all their activities, from Brownies, Little League and FFA. She loved caring for her children.

Donna started taking care of teachers’ children out of her home, but eventually founded Magic Rainbow Daycare. She spent over 20 years caring and loving the children of Elgin, and she was a mom to them all.

Donna was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Elgin. She and Mike, along with a core group of friends, founded Cattlemen for Cancer Research (CCR). CCR was close to her heart and she dedicated many hours to helping it be successful. Donna enjoyed having wine with friends and meeting with her coffee group each week. She treasured her friendships. She loved traveling with Mike, cruising with her friends and family, and penny slots, but her favorite activity was spending time with family, especially watching her grandkids playing sports, showing animals, and rodeos.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Grady Allen and Bessie Louise Scott; her husband, Michale E. Keeling; and her in-laws, Clyde and Jimmie Keeling.

She is survived by her children, Lisa (Tim) Schultz, Terrie (Bryce) Doggett, Angela (Dean) Bujnoch, and Douglas (Tana) Keeling; her grandchildren, Brian (Jennie) Schultz, Morgan Schultz, Makenna Schultz, Hayden Doggett, Jake Doggett, Grayson Doggett, Brock Bujnoch, Brody Bujnoch, Briggs Bujnoch, Garrett Keeling, Kailyn Keeling and Kenzie Keeling; her great-grandchildren, Maddox and Knox Pannell; and her sister, Ruthie (Sonny) Beck.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna’s name to Cattlemen for Cancer Research, P.O. Box 672, Elgin, TX 78621.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m at the First United Methodist Church of Elgin. Interment will follow at Youngs Prairie Cemetery.
