Debora Jean (Brandt) Rinehold, “Debbie” 61, of Elgin, Texas passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at home in Canyon Lake Texas after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s. She never said, “I’m leaving,” she never said goodbye. She was gone before I knew it and only God knows why. In life I loved her dearly, in death I love her still. In my heart I hold a place that only she can fill. It broke my heart to lose her, but she didn’t go alone. A part of me went with her, the day God took her home.

Debbie was an “Elgin girl” born on June 25, 1958 to Edward Daniel and Alice Lynn (Jarmon) Brandt. She grew up in the First United Methodist Church of Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 1976. She left Elgin long enough to attend Southwest Texas State University where she graduated in 1980 with a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in Pleasanton, Texas and soon met and married the love of her life, Michael Ray (“Mike”) Rinehold, on August 13, 1983. Her love of Elgin soon called to her and she returned to pursue teaching at her alma mater.

Debbie was a proud member of the Elgin High School Faculty for 25 years (Go Wildcats!) where she taught business administration; giving many students the foundational skills they would utilize in future careers. Debbie loved teaching and her students, and they returned her love through visits and correspondence. Debbie delighted in spending time with family and friends and remembered those occasions through scrapbooking. She treasured her home, yard, and garden where she enjoyed time with her cherished poodles. Debbie was proficient at jewelry making, particularly beading, and spent many hours working out unique designs. Debbie adored the beach and made frequent visits to Port Aransas where she enjoyed the sand and surf.

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Mike; brother Daniel Brandt (and wife, Vivian); sister Connie Haines; sister Terrie Clark (and husband, Lillard); parents-in-law Robert and Barbara Rinehold; stepson Travis; and grandchildren Zoe, Laura, Justin, and Emma. Plus, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home located at 189 N Seguin Avenue New Braunfels Texas from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, on Saturday, September 28, 2019 with a Remembrance Service to follow at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://alz.org/).

Arrangements entrusted to Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home (https://www.doeppenschmidtfuneralhome.com/obits ).
