Corene King Ingalls

Corene King Ingalls, age 87, was called home by her Heavenly Father May 8, 2023. Corene was born July 1, 1935, to her mother, Euna Lee King and her father, James Ernest King, in Bernice, Louisiana, along with her twin sister, Florene. They were known as “Co & Flo.” They had two older siblings, Dot and Everett.

Corene was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Irwin Ingalls, a devoted mother to her four children, and a loving grandmother “MeeMaw” to her 16 grandchildren.

She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member for decades. Here is where she touched so many lives and planted many seeds of faith.

Teaching the Bible and living out a life of faith enabled her to bring so many friends and family to know the Lord. This is what she loved to do. This is her greatest legacy.

She worked many years as an insurance investigator and after retirement she was a substitute teacher at Elgin ISD.

Corene had a passion for travel and loved to cook and tend to her flowers. She loved spending time with her family near and far.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed.

Corene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Irwin Ingalls; her daughter, Melissa Tinnell; her twin sister, Florene Anthony; sister, Dot Farmer; and brother, James Everett King.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Wilson; her son, James Ingalls; her daughter, Rene Ingalls; her 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Elgin. Interment followed in the Youngs Prairie Cemetery.

Corene will be remembered for her generous spirit, her kind heart, and her unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
