William Dale Wood Jr.

On Sept. 27, 2022, William Dale Wood Jr. died in Midland. He passed at 89 years old.

Dale is survived by his wife, Donna Wood, of 48 years in Midland. Also survived by his children, Gayle Wood, of Austin, Tracey Smircic, of Lake Jackson, and Terry Lane, of Bald Knob, Arkansas; his brother, Johnny Seivert, of McDade; grandchildren, Jennifer Newlin, of Austin, Max Smircic, of Lake Jackson, and Blaine Wilkinson, of Lake Jackson; and five great-grandchildren.

Dale was born on June 27, 1933 in Elgin. Graduated from Kincaid Military Academy in Houstonand went on to join the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska.

Dale built and drove race cars for Ford Motor Company in the 50s and 60s. He was service coordinator for several large car dealers in the Houston and Austin area throughout his life.

A graveside memorial service for Dale is scheduled for Oct. 22, 4 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery, 901 West 2nd Street in Elgin.
