A chilly morning didn’t stop young children from getting up bright and early with their animals to see how well they’ve done as a team.The Bastrop County Junior Livestock Show and Youth Fair was Jan. 13-14 at Elgin VFW Post 6115. The Elgin Livestock Show Association hosts the annual event.Friday’s youth fair consisted of four age groups and several different categories. Competitors could show off their skills in metal fabrication, woodworking, baking, or arts and crafts.Saturday’s livestock show kicked off at 9 a.m. and went into the afternoon. Children were seen entering one or several categories, including rabbits, chickens, goats, swine, goats, lambs and cattle. An evening auction concluded the weekend.The Elgin Livestock Show ...
