Bastrop County taxing entities will be awarded an additional share of $245,622.74 as the result of a settlement of a lawsuit versus Asplundh Tree Expert Company, growing out of the 2011 Bastrop Complex Fire.
The suit was filed two years ago by a legal team assembled by local attorney Joe Grady Tuck, comprised of Tuck Law Group, PLLC, Dave Wenholz of Dripping Springs, and Benjamin Shabot of Galveston, on behalf of Bastrop County, Bastrop ISD, Smithville ISD, and Emergency Services District No. 2. The taxing entities were awarded $5 million earlier this year for lost tax revenue and county road repairs.
