What happened during the 1957 Upchurch’s Drug Store fire

I thoroughly enjoyed the article this past week on Upchurch’s Drug Store in as much as I worked there as mentioned as a “soda jerk.” Here is some additional information regarding the fire in 1957, which burned the two-story building down. The building was divided at street level with Upchurch’s located on the corner and Meyer’s Department Store located in the other half. The upstairs, which was open over both businesses, was used for storage.
