Christopher Alan Cannon, 37, the former Elgin mayor, was arrested last week on a theft of property charge.According to Travis County jail records, Cannon was arrested by the Elgin Police Department on Wednesday and booked at the Travis County Jail at 1:01 p.m.On Friday morning, Travis County jail records show that Cannon was released on bond for $7,500.According to the indictment from the 299th Judicial District Court of Travis County, Cannon was charged with theft of property, equal to or greater than $30,000 but less than $150,000, a third-degree felony.
