County court approves flexible fee-setting process for animal shelter

The Bastrop County Commissioners Court approved a process for making the cost of adoption fees at the shelter more flexible for less adoptable animals during its previous meeting on August 26. Animal services director Ashley Hermans and animal shelter manager Adam Marshall explained to the court why flexible fees would be beneficial and more efficient for the shelter. Marshall said the shelter has taken in 3,600 animals so far this year, compared to 3,800 over the entirety of last year, marking a significant uptick in intakes.
