The wildfire in central Bastrop County near Highway 21, called the Cassel Way Fire, was completely contained as of last Tuesday evening.
Units first began responding around 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, April 10 to a fire near the intersection of Highway 21 and FM 1441 in central Bastrop County. All of Kelley Road West and Cassel Way to Highway 21 were shut down and evacuated until around 10:30 that night.
The fire was 75% contained and mapped at 36 acres by Sunday afternoon. However, around 5 p.m. on Sunday, the fire crossed the containment line towards Cassel Way, burning another acre.
