The Democratic candidate for Texas governor in this fall’s election, Beto O’Rourke, spoke to a lively crowd at The East 40 just south of Bastrop on Friday, August 5. The town hall was part of O’Rourke’s Drive for Texas campaign that is visiting communities across Texas over 49 days. The event also featured comments from Democratic Texas Railroad Commissioner candidate Luke Warford and Madeline Eden, the Democratic candidate for Texas state representative for District 17, which includes Bastrop County. After O’Rourke spoke about his positions and policy ideas for Texas, he answered questions from attendees.
