On your next drive through historic downtown Elgin, you will see new banners that celebrate veterans of the community. Charlotte Thomas initiated the Hometown Heroes banner recognition program with the approval of the Elgin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6115.Thomas led the program, securing donations and family photographs to use in the banners.
