Beth Walterscheidt has recently been elected as chair of the Christmas Tree Promotion Board. The Christmas Promotion Board is a national research and promotion program whose mission is to share the benefits of fresh Christmas trees with consumers through promotion, public relations and education, while engaging in research to better serve our customers and growers.
The first promotion board was appointed in January of 2015 by the USDA Secretary of Agriculture, and Walterscheidt was one of the original appointments. She was reappointed in 2018 for the last of her two allowable terms. The board consists of 12 members from three regions of the country consisting of major wholesalers, choose-and-cut growers and an importer.
The board meets monthly with conference calls and semi-annually in person at various regions of the country. The next meeting will be held in Austin on February 11.
