Elgin council passes mask ordinance

In a virtual emergency meeting, the Elgin City Council passed an ordinance requiring the wearing of face masks in public in most situations.  The ordinance requires that businesses within the city require their employees and visitors to wear face coverings, and individuals 10 years of age or older must wear face coverings in public when it is difficult to maintain six feet of separation from others. Over twenty public comments were shared at the beginning of the meeting.
