County officials will soon begin figuring out how to spend about $17 million in federal stimulus funds in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
About $17 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan, an act that passed the U.S. Congress last month and a part of which is set aside to help local governments cover costs of the pandemic and begin an economic recovery, have been designated for Bastrop County. Half of the funds will be available this year, and the rest will be available next year; all of the money will have to be spent by the end of 2024.
