Students learn about careers on wheels

Fifth-grade students from all three of Elgin ISD’s elementary campuses visited the high school to explore job opportunities that involve vehicles during the annual Careers on Wheels event. The students learned many of these careers involve other expertise, such as health sciences for the emergency medical services provided by Acadian; engineering and science with Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative; construction, estimating and engineering with the City of Elgin and their heavy equipment; fire rescue with the Elgin Fire Department; and law enforcement with the Elgin Police Department and the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.
