A century after its original building’s construction, the First Baptist Church of Elgin (FBC) broke ground on Sunday on a brand-new facility to expand and better serve the growing population of Elgin.FBC’s current building at 205 West Second Street was finished in 1922, when Elgin was a much smaller town.
