Registration for Elgin Police Department’s Blue Santa program began on October 28 this year. The deadline to apply to receive Blue Santa assistance is Friday, December 6 by 5 p.m.
Blue Santa is a shared effort of the Elgin Police Department, while partnering with community businesses, citizens and organizations to provide holiday support for families in need. Blue Santa’s area of service is Elgin ISD.
All applicants must apply in person at the Elgin Police Department at any time of the day to receive Blue Santa assistance. Applicants need a utility bill in the applicant’s name as proof of residence; a current photo ID such as a Texas driver’s license, a Texas ID card or a green card; and for each family member 13 years and younger, a birth certificate or guardianship papers and their latest school report card as current school enrollment documentation.
Delivery of gifts will take place on December 18 and 19, and it is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure someone is home during the designated delivery time. If no one is there to receive them, items will not be left on scene and will be forfeited. Elgin Police Department will only deliver up to one mile outside of the city limits; anything over one mile will have to be picked up.
Elgin Police Department is accepting donations of new toys, books and games through December 13.
